By chance I met Gaby in Chalk Farm (near to work) and she introduced me to her studio… ExhalePilatesLondon. It all looked very daunting but the idea of working with equipment to support my twisted alignment and weak core seemed like a good idea. The first class was a 1-2-1 and Gaby took me through the equipment and gently showed me what my body was capable of achieving. She is a great teacher who clearly communicates goals, models the techniques and enthused me to push myself further. If I were Ofsted (which i’m not, thank god) I would give her a Grade 1 – Outstanding. My next class was with a group. I was terrified about looking like a whale on a chain in front of other people but the other ladies were just as interested in the benefits of the class as I was and Gaby was able to make me feel as if I was having individual tuition within the group and this has continued.

After two classes, I went for a walk/run. Armed with my Garmin watch I ran for 1:30 and walked for 2:00 checking my alignment and posture and sorting out any tension in each walk segment. 3.2K later… NO PAIN. I did this gain two days later…. NO PAIN. I’m going to slowly build back up and attempt some big runs in 2015.

I’m now a Pilates convert and I’m glad I’ve found a teacher who is as enthusiastic about my progress as I am.
