Building Strong Roots 🦶

We hear about building strong cores, legs, back and arms all the time. But how often do you hear people talk about building strong feet?

Everything starts with our feet. After all they are what carry us around every day and are our bodies foundation.

In the Pilates system we have some less known tools for building foot strength, and are also incredible to use especially, if you are:

🏃🏻 A runner
👠 High heel lover
👣 On your feet all day

1️⃣ The Toe Corrector: Used to improve toe strength, flexibility, and overall foot well-being, including easing bunion pain. Also ideal for strengthening hip flexors and glutes.

2️⃣ The Footbar: Footwork exercises strengthen the arches of your feet, as well as the muscles in your shins, hamstrings, and quads. Footwork exercises can help you get to know the 107 ligaments, 26 bones, and 33 joints in your feet. 😊 It’s like your own reflexologist 🤲🏼

3️⃣ The Foot Corrector: Improves the function of the foot, which can positively impact the alignment of the ankle, knee, hip, and back. Its also great to relieve tension in the foot and can make you feel like you’re walking on air after.

4️⃣ The Airplane Board : The board’s sturdy wood base provides increased arch support. The board’s solid wood base can help users feel more confident while performing exercises and is great to help the foot to glute connection too. So important for posture.

The beauty of the Pilates system is how all of these pieces of wonderful apparatus can be used to enhance your entire wellbeing and support your individual needs.

The Power of the System

We love to educate our clients on the Pilates system if you hadn’t noticed 😉

Whether they are coming for their Discovery session, or have a Private 1-1, we show them ways on how to empower their bodies and mind using the intelligence behind the system. Part of that is doing the same exercise on different apparatus.

Why? Because it hits the body and mind differently

From pumping on the high chair, to footwork on the reformer, you can see how George uses the same movement pattern; but by using different apparatus it targets stability, different muscle groups, and our mind-body connection in very different ways.

Put all those new found connections together with no apparatus, just your body on the mat and you’ll notice how much more strength and intention you work with.

Winding down the week on the Wunda chair.
