Bigger is not always better.

We know that legs in straps is a popular Pilates exercise. Sure, it can feel nice to move your legs in big circles.

However, the focus of frog and legs circles is learning to move your legs from a strong and stable centre, ideally keeping inside the frame of the reformer.

When you control the movement not only do you strengthen your core, hips and mid line connection, you also work on stabilising the pelvis and massaging the lower back.

Less is sometimes more and when you move with intention you get much more bang for your buck.

Thigh Stretch

It might be called a Thigh Stretch, but it should really be called Booty Burner 🍑🔥

To perform this exercise you need to be thinking about hinging back with your glutes, hamstrings and core fully engaged.

This will automatically stretch out your thighs but keep your lower back supported and body building strength in all those right places. 💪🏼

Tip
Keep shoulders over hips, abs drawing in and up and lift back up from your glutes and abs for one spicy exercise that becomes a lot more than just a thigh stretch 🌶️

We love to educate our clients on the Pilates system if you hadn’t noticed 😉

Whether they are coming for their Discovery session, or have a Private 1-1, we show them ways on how to empower their bodies and mind using the intelligence behind the system. Part of that is doing the same exercise on different apparatus.

Why? Because it hits the body and mind differently

From pumping on the high chair, to footwork on the reformer, you can see how George uses the same movement pattern; but by using different apparatus it targets stability, different muscle groups, and our mind-body connection in very different ways.

Put all those new found connections together with no apparatus, just your body on the mat and you’ll notice how much more strength and intention you work with.
