August is the Sunday of Summer. It’s the month when most of the world slows down (at least a little) and with this our routine goes out the window.

It’s so easy to have an all or nothing approach to your fitness routine but if you approach August with the mindset of “small wins, done daily” it will keep you feeling energised and progressing even in the more relaxed months.

Pilates secret…The smallest muscles (your toes and arches) create the biggest transformation ✨

are some of the cues we use as Pilates teachers.

Why? Because it’s a crucial link for a strong posterior chain ⛓️

When we think of Pilates, feet 👣 aren’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. But they should be.

Your feet are the foundation to your body as they set the tone for alignment, posture and movement efficiency.

With strong, mobile feet you:

1️⃣ Enhance balance & stability – every step and movement starts from your base. ⚖️

2️⃣ Support better posture – correcting foot placement helps release tension and realigns the spine. 🌀

3️⃣ Boost whole-body strength – activating the toes and arches wakes up the glutes and core. 🍑

4️⃣ Provide diagnostic insight – a great Pilates teacher can spot where strength or release is needed by what the feet are doing! 🤓

That’s why you want a Pilates teacher who corrects your foot placement and makes sure your toes “join the party.” 🎉

Remember: Happy feet = a strong, resilient body.

The Towel Edition with Gaby and Shoshi ✨☺️

The humble towel is a fantastic tool to enhance and support your Pilates practice.

There are many wonderful exercises you can do with it, but one of my favourites is the feedback it gives when doing the roll up. And let’s be honest who doesn’t like a little extra support with this challenging exercise.

After having a c-section 5 months ago, I found it super difficult to roll down with control and roll up with strength so I’ve been using the towel in my workouts and what a difference.

Place the towel in your lower back. You’ll feel the feedback that helps you connect to those deep abdominals to not only strengthen your core but also help you create more space in your spine as you articulate up and down.

It’s a game changer to support a better recruitment of the correct muscles and to not let the back or momentum take over.
