Here are 5 reasons why we cap classes at 6 max at Exhale

1 Attention to detail. Teachers are able to give far more attention to clients and have the opportunity to watch you move with more detail.

2 Better Results. Clients progress faster with individual feedback and improved technique.

3 Safety. Pilates apparatus can be dangerous (especially the Reformer) when not used or supervised correctly. Small classes allow teachers to keep everyone moving safely.

4 Small group classes are almost like a private, you will get specific cues and hands on feedback.

5 Rapport between client & teacher. It’s easier to build up authentic relationships with smaller classes - we love seeing the amazing bonds that happen at Exhale 💕

Take 5 minutes out of your day to get on the Mat and complete the last of Joe’s original Mat sequence this week.

If you have longer than 5 minutes look back at all the Monday’s over this month of March Matness and complete the sequence together.

Remember repetition builds strength, increased flexibility and above all a deeper connection to our bodies and wow is the full sequence of 34 exercises powerful for our body and mind.

The whole purpose of Pilates is to create space in the body (especially the spine) and strong connection points that support you for life.

The Push through is one of the many exercises we give in our Tower classes to teach hand to back connection, lift in the spine and a strong scoop for those deep abdominals which support your lower back.

By committing to regular classes that include exercises like the push through you are giving your body the best tools to keep your posture on point.

Open Gym is here!

As proud advocates of the Joseph Pilates method and system, we’re thrilled to be bringing Open Gym to Exhale led by the fabulous Francesca.

Open Gym reflects the exact way Joseph Pilates taught in his studio, empowering clients to develop independence within their practice, so they can carry that independence outside of the studio and beyond.

✨How it works ✨

Clients can choose where they begin their session (usually the Mat or Reformer), exploring other apparatus tailored to their specific needs, whilst being guided with personalised cues and hands-on assistance.

This is a more freeing workout experience allowing clients the opportunity to try other exciting pieces of apparatus they may normally never use (eg Barrels, Wunda Chair, Pedi Pole, Foot corrector)

The sessions allow you to be independent, but stay disciplined.

You will be given guidance on your self practice so you can gain a deeper and more focused workout like you haven’t experienced before.

Dates: Thursdays 13th, 20th, 27th March & 3rd April
Time: 2 - 3pm

Price: £140 for 4 sessions

Calling all gym bro’s 🏋

Hands up if you’re guilty of only training your chest, biceps, legs, and abs when you’re at the gym and neglect your posterior chain?

It’s vital to not only understand the importance of posterior chain muscles, but to concentrate on recruiting them when working all muscle groups.

This will help to not only to keep your posture on point and support alignment but to minimise imbalances in the body which lead to injury, ie back and shoulder issues which is a common problem we see a lot.

The good news, Joe Pilates considered all of this when he created his method Contrology so when you take a class with us you’ll be covered.

Outside of the studio, here are 3 tips to look after your posterior chain

🏋️‍♂️ Include dedicated posterior chain exercises: ie deadlifts, squats, lunges, hip thrusts, and rows into your routine BUT concentrate on recruiting your back and core muscles when doing so.

⚖️ Balance your workouts: Ensure you train both the front and back of your body equally as well as not just concentrating on weight sessions or cardio.

🧘‍♂️ Take recovery sessions BUT make sure they are recovery sessions not another high muscle stimulating workout. Your joints, muscles and mind need a break to and to get you the results you want quicker

👌Focus on proper form: Correct form is crucial for effectively engaging the posterior chain. You’ll get more bang for your buck and get you to your goals without having to stop your good intentions and routine due to injury.

We love that we have so many pieces of apparatus at the studio that help target and wake up every single muscle group ensuring a full body workout.
