Everyone starts as a beginner…

We know how easy it is to look at someone and think, WOW they make it look so effortless.

What you don’t see is the hours, months, and years of dedication that includes showing up, nailing the basics and building on it step by step.

One of the key elements of the Pilates method is the intelligence of layering, a thoughtful approach that encourages you to master foundational exercises before advancing to more complex movements.

This video shows 3 exercises using feet in straps and the gradual progression of intensity.
🔷Leg Circles and Frog
🔷Short Spine Massage
🔷Long Spine Massage

- Leg Circles and Frog -
A foundational exercise that’s builds a solid base of core strength, stability, alignment, and control as well as teaching your legs to move from a strong centre. The spinal column remains flat and supported.

- Short Spine Massage -
Challenges all the above by lifting the pelvis, taking more weight in the upper body to strengthen shoulder stability and more core control to lift yourself up and roll down.
It also challenges stamina by lifting your lower body above your heart before giving you the best spinal massage on the way down. 🌀

- Long Spinal Massage -
Much more challenging. You extend the straps to allow your legs to go further away from your centre (more demanding on the core ) and you don’t have the carriage to work with as the aim is to keep the carriage still not like short spine that moves with you.

You require much more upper body strength and shoulder stability, as well as hamstring and glute strength.
It takes controlling the entire body to a whole new level, but wow is it an incredibly empowering exercises when you get there. 🙌🏼🤸🏽‍♂️

Remember, the path to success is a journey, not a race. Pilates is a lifetime of a work, and that’s part of the fun.

So, embrace a beginner mindset, honour your body’s needs, and enjoy each phase. 😊
