Mariano is an esteemed international Pilates teacher and physical educator with over two decades of professional experience.
Originally trained with Romana and Inelia Garcia in Brazil at The Pilates Studio Brasil, and that is where Mariano completed his first certification under Romana’s guidance. Later, Mariano moved to New York and completed the Romana’s Pilates program again with Romana’s daughter as a bridge program, which lead to his work at True Pilates New York.
Mariano approaches Pilates as a practical path of transformation that integrates body, mind, and spirit. Deeply rooted in disciplined physical practice, his teaching inspires students to pursue mastery through movement and consistent work. He believes that true transformation is the result of dedication and persistence.
This workshop is all about the Universal Reformer as Joseph Pilates created it. We’ll go through the exercise series from basic to advanced and look at them in three ways: how to teach them step by step, how they’re done in the classical system, and some older-school exercises that come straight from Joseph’s original work and aren’t seen that often. The idea is to really understand the Reformer as a system and feel confident teaching it.
Barrels of Extension: Building the Spine (2.5 hours) Saturday 6th of June, 4-6.30pm
Here we’ll work with the Spine Corrector and the Ladder Barrel. On the Spine Corrector we’ll do basic and intermediate work to understand extension and support. On the Ladder Barrel we’ll go into more advanced and super advanced exercises, bigger extensions, and also handstand practice with clear progressions. The focus is on feeling confident using the barrels and understanding how they support the spine.
DAY 2
Cadillac / Tower: Many Ways to Move (2.5 hours) Sunday 7th of June, 1-3.30pm
This workshop is about exploring how much you can do on the Cadillac and Tower. We’ll work from basic to advanced exercises, lots of arm spring work, standing work and rolling back. On the Cadillac we’ll also look at class endings, aerial work, inversions and some more acrobatic exercises, as well as less common material from the original system. We’ll also talk about how to build clear, flowing and enjoyable Tower and Cadillac classes.
Last Impressions (Endings) (2.5 hours) Sunday 7th of June, 4-6.30pm
A workshop focused on how we close our classes, and why the ending is never just an afterthought. We will explore different ways of finishing a Pilates session on the mat and on the apparatus, understanding how the final moments of a class influence the body, posture and emotional state of the student. We will work with traditional and archival endings from Joseph Pilates and Romana Kryzanowska, classical mat finales, and also explore creative and extended endings using mini mats, arm weights, magic circles, stretching sequences, footwork and standing integration. We will look at how to finish classes using the wall, the Ped-O-Pull, Baby Chair, Cadillac, push-up devices, handstands, postural and acrobatic work, moving beyond what is usually considered a traditional ending while maintaining the integrity of the method. This workshop is about intention, sequencing and the power of the final exercises of a class, and how endings shape the way a student leaves the studio, both physically and emotionally.
